D.O.R.S. Youth Transition Center a program of ETCADA that connects young people with a myriad of services to address and overcome all barriers and obstacles so they can choose the right “door” for a successful future. Staff assist young people with one-on-one case management to develop a Transition Plan that can include a variety of types of training, education, and career readiness.

Those we serve are victims of crime and our funding addresses the unique needs of this group of young adults and youth.

Partnering with more than 20 agencies and organizations, we maximize our services to provide needed resources and solutions that make a difference in the lives of at-risk and homeless young people.

Mission Statement

D.O.R.S. Youth Transition Center accepts referrals from the Department of Family and Protective Services, school districts, homeless shelters, foster agencies, churches and the justice system. Many young people come on their own requesting our help.

Our mission is to provide recovery support services and reduce substance use through education and intervention. We also help young adults successfully transition into adulthood by providing services to address essential needs.

  • Provide a safe place for young people
  • Provide a youth-oriented network of support programs and services that prepare young people to become respectful, responsible and reliable citizens

We are needed. Our streets are filled. Our shelters are filled. Even our courtrooms are filled with homeless and at-risk young people who need our help. Referrals are accepted from the Department of Family and Protective Services, the probation system, all school districts, homeless shelters, the criminal justice system and foster agencies. Some young people simply walk in our door having heard from peers whom we’ve helped.

We care about young people! We provide needed services, free of charge, that make a difference in the lives of young people, their younger children and in our community.

We are unique. Why? Because we are the only youth transition center in Longview, a city with a population over 80,000. In fact, we are the only youth transition center in East Texas that provides holistic services to young people. We conveniently coordinate multiple services in a sequential manner at one location. Additionally, we are unique because our intense one-on-one case management approach assists young people in developing a Transition Plan to help them overcome obstacles and choose the right “door” for their future. Yes! Developing Opportunities, Realizing Success!

Every Individual Matters. We understand that every individual we serve is unique, and for that reason D.O.R.S. personalizes services to fit the specific needs of each of our participants – there is no “one size fits all” for life choices.
